Why one session will not fix your hip.

Hip pain is usually a load and control problem, not a single tight muscle. How the hip loads, the strength around it, and sometimes the joint itself drive the pain, built over months. One massage eases it for a day. Getting on top of it means finding the driver and rebuilding how the hip loads, in order, over a course.

If you want a single rub, we are not your clinic. If you want it dealt with properly, read on.

THE PROGRAMME

The Hip Programme.

Your assessment, your plan, and a course of hands-on soft tissue treatment over six to eight weeks with the same practitioner. We assess the hip and how the leg loads, release the restriction, and rebuild control so the hip holds. The hands-on treatment is what shifts the problem; your home exercises hold the gains between visits.

Assessment.

We find what is driving the problem: which structures are restricted, which are overworking, and how the pattern built up.

Tension Release.

Hands-on soft tissue work on the tissue holding the pattern in place.

Strength Rebuild.

A loading plan that retrains the tissue so the pattern does not return, with exercises you do between visits.

Reviews

What our clients say.

Verified reviews from Google, Fresha and Treatwell.

"I've had sports massage from probably eight different therapists over ten years of running. Alexander is in a different category. He explained what was actually happening in my IT band before touching it, which no one has ever done. Three sessions and the knee issue I'd had for two years is gone. I don't say that lightly."

Sarah M.

"Chronic upper back tension from desk work. I'd tried everything, osteopathy, physio, regular massage. Nothing stuck for more than a week. Alexander found a restriction in my thoracic spine that nobody had identified before and worked on it systematically across four sessions. Six months later and it hasn't come back."

James T.

"Booked the clinical assessment because I'd been told different things by three different physios and had no idea who was right. Alexander's assessment was the most thorough I've had. The written report explained my shoulder issue in a way I actually understood. The treatment plan was logical, not generic. Worth every penny just for the clarity."

What is hip pain?

Hip pain is a broad term covering several distinct clinical presentations. The most common in active and desk-working populations are gluteal tendinopathy (lateral hip pain over the greater trochanter), hip flexor tightness and strain, and deep gluteal syndrome where the sciatic nerve is compressed at the piriformis.

True hip joint pathology, including osteoarthritis, labral tears, and femoroacetabular impingement, requires orthopaedic investigation. Most hip pain seen in soft tissue practice, however, is muscular, tendinous, or fascial in origin and responds well to clinical assessment and targeted therapy.

Common symptoms

  • ✓Lateral hip pain over the greater trochanter, often worse lying on the affected side
  • ✓Deep buttock ache that refers into the leg
  • ✓Hip flexor tightness or pain at the front of the hip after sitting
  • ✓Clicking or snapping sensation in the hip during movement
  • ✓Pain climbing stairs, walking uphill, or during single-leg loading
  • ✓Reduced hip rotation range of motion

When hip pain needs a doctor.

Deep groin pain, night pain, or stiffness that is getting worse, especially in older adults, can be the hip joint and needs review. We screen at your assessment and refer if needed.
